ID3v1 tags
-occupies 128 bytes
-placed at the end of the mp3/mp4 file
- begins with the string TAG
- requires 30 bytes each for title, artist, album and a comment
- requires 40 bytes for the year
- requires 1 byte to identify the genre from a list of predfined values
- ID3v1.1 - added the ability to store track numbers
ID3v2
- no relation to ID3v1
- holds 256mb of information
Editing ID3 tags
- software called tag editors or taggers can be used to edit the metadata of an ID3 tag
